Sydney serves up some of its best outdoor offerings at Nielsen Park, located at Vaucluse in Sydney's eastern suburbs.
It's one of the most picturesque places for a picnic, boasting three large, sheltered picnic areas and expansive lawns. Relax on the grass and enjoy your lunch beneath a shady fig tree.
Stroll along the scenic foreshore walking track or explore the area by kayak. For a longer walk, explore Bottle and Glass Point or take a 3.6km return walk along the unmissable Hermitage Foreshore track for ultimate views of Sydney Harbour.

You'll find the idyllic Bottle and Glass Point in the Eastern Suburbs' renowned Nielsen Park.
This flat, grassy area offers magnificent views over Vaucluse Bay and gorgeous surroundings for a picnic, so unload your picnic hamper and watch the sailboats gently bobbing the bay. Listen to the languid sounds of birdsong and water lapping against the rocks, and feel the breeze rustling through the shady trees.
After lunch, spend some time roaming the peninsula. Enjoy the stunning sights from the walking tracks, and photograph the oddly-shaped Bottle and Glass Rocks so named in 1799 because the sandstone columns resembled glassware. Once much taller than they are today, the columns were supposedly shattered when used for target practice by passing ships.
