Welcome to the Riverview Studio at Cottage Point Inn.
There are places you escape to, and then there are places that feel like they were made for exactly this moment. The Riverview Studio is firmly the latter.
Nestled within the grounds of one of Sydney's most iconic waterfront destinations, this beautifully intimate studio sits tucked among the Australian Natives above the Cowan River, with views across the water and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park framed through the branches beyond. It is private, peaceful, and the kind of place that makes the rest of the world feel very far away.
The centrepiece of the studio is the four-poster canopy bed, dressed in white sheer drapes and quality linen, and positioned to make the most of the soft morning light that filters in through the floor-to-ceiling curtains. The pitched white ceiling adds height and a sense of openness to the space, while the warm leather sofa, timber coffee table and rattan chair give the room a grounded, earthy feel that sits beautifully against the lush green outlook beyond the windows.
Step outside onto your private balcony and you are in the treetops. Australian Natives trees reach up around you, the Cowan River sits below, and the only sounds are water and birds. It is the kind of spot where you genuinely feel like you have stumbled onto something most people never find.
Our bedding configuration is as follows: Studio:
1 x Queen Bed (Four-Poster)
And then there is the location itself. Cottage Point Inn is famous for a reason. Guests fly in by seaplane from Rose Bay. Others arrive by boat from Palm Beach. The restaurant serves 5 and 8 course tasting menus with an award-winning wine list, drawing couples celebrating the moments that matter and discerning food lovers looking for something they will not forget. Staying overnight here means waking up in the middle of all of it. That is something most guests never get to do.
Friday and Saturday night stays include a 5 course dinner or lunch for two at the restaurant as part of your booking. If you would like to upgrade to the full 8 course menu with wine pairings, simply reach out to the restaurant directly to arrange it. For stays on other nights, we strongly recommend booking a table for lunch or dinner to complete the experience. It books out quickly, so plan ahead.
Getting here: Cottage Point is approximately one hour by car from Sydney's CBD. You can also arrive by daily boat from Palm Beach, or by seaplane direct to the restaurant pontoon. However you choose to arrive, the journey is part of the experience. -

Cottage Point is one of those rare pockets of Sydney that feels almost hidden from the rest of the world. Tucked deep within Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, it’s a tiny waterfront community where the bush runs right down to the water and days seem to slow themselves. With only a small number of homes scattered along the shoreline, the area is quiet, peaceful and surrounded by natural beauty in every direction.
Cowan Creek and the smaller inlets that feed into it shape much of life here. The water is calm and glassy in the mornings, ideal for kayaking, gentle boating or simply drifting along to explore the bays and bush-covered headlands. Boat and kayak hire is available right next door, which makes it easy to spend long days out on the water without planning too far ahead. Fishing, swimming and picnicking by the water are part of the rhythm of life here.
For those who prefer to stay on land, the national park offers walking tracks, lookouts and plenty of opportunities to spot native birdlife and animals. Even a short wander through the area feels restorative, with the scent of eucalypt and the sound of the creek never far away.
Despite its seclusion, Cottage Point has a couple of places to eat that feel perfectly in tune with the setting. The local kiosk is relaxed and right by the water, the kind of spot to stop for breakfast or lunch after a morning on the creek. A more refined dining option sits just along the water’s edge, offering long, slow meals with views across the trees and boats below.
What makes Cottage Point special is the balance it strikes, close enough to Sydney that you can arrive without a long trip, yet remote enough to feel like a genuine escape. Anyone who wants a holiday centred on nature, water and quiet. Mornings start slowly, afternoons drift by on the deck or in a boat, and the evenings settle into the kind of calm you rarely find so close to the city. It’s a place people come to unwind and usually wish they could stay longer. -
